KERLO is believed to be the result of a design competition run by the Royal Swedish Yacht Club in the late 1930s. The competition aimed to stimulate innovation in the design and construction of cruising yachts by younger naval architects. The winning design was built and awarded as the prize in the club's 1939 annual raffle. The fortunate winner was a Scottish sailor based in Edinburgh, and the boat arrived in the UK shortly before the start of WWII.
A familiar sight in Scottish waters, KERLO has been enjoyed by owners throughout Scotland. Originally based on the East Coast, she migrated to the waters of the West Coast, where she has been for the last 30+ years. Purchased by her current owners in 2022, KERLO has benefitted from a rigorous maintenance regime over the last couple of years, with some sensitive modernizing and upgrading of her equipment. She is now reluctantly offered for sale as her current owners seek a larger classic yacht. Her inventory highlights include:
After a successful 2024 season cruising on the West Coast of Scotland, KERLO is now lying ashore for the winter in the sheds at Silvers Marine, Rosneath, and available for viewing by appointment.
