Letcher. The design concept was for a boat that would motor easily in the event of no available crew, but would also give ‘entirely adequate performance under sail in all but the lightest weather’. The design was aimed at the novice sailor, to provide him with a comfortable and safe boat that would forgive him his mistakes and keep him and the family safe at sea. The split accommodation and covered centre cockpit mean there is a lot of useable space below decks making her an excellent all season boat. At 14 Thames Tonnes she is a large volume boat for her length, ideal for the family cruising yacht. There is an extensive portfolio covering her recent history and work done including a recent survey report. Construction, Pitch pine planking on sawn oak frames with steamed American Elm intermediate timbers. T&G laid pine deck sheathed in canvas and painted. Solid coachroof coamings with bronze portholes. Sheathed plywood coachroof deck laid recently, Rig, Bermudan ketch rig on deck stepped hollow pine masts. Galvanise standing rigging, Large inventory of sails including new mizzen and spinnaker. Machinery, Twin Yanmar 2cyl 20hp diesels. Starboard engine installed as a reconditioned unit in 2013. Stainless shafts to fixed 3 blade bronze propellors held on A brackets. Accommodation, Centre cockpit with solid cover made from Iroko and added in recent years. Canvas back completely encloses the cockpit. Centreline passageway going forward into the main cabin with a single berth to starboard and a large double to port. Plenty of storage in this cabin. Full standing headroom. Forward into the fore peak with a Jabsco manual toilet. Aft area of the boat has the main saloon and galley. Steps down from the cockpit with galley to port with a gimballed gas stove and sink. Chart desk and storage to starboard. Main saloon with settee berths either side of a large saloon table. Plenty of light and ventilation from skylights and portholes.
