General Description

Rio is a spacious 43-foot monohull designed by Tim Jackett and built at Tartan Yachts in Painesville, Ohio, USA. Tim Jackett, an active sailor and racer for nearly 50 years, has been with Tartan Yachts since college. This experience reflects the commitment, integrity, and craftsmanship of Tartan Yachts, which has been in business since 1951. Rio is constructed from vacuum bagged, two-part epoxy laminate, making her lightweight and impervious to osmosis. The boat features carbon fiber rigs and parts, engineered for performance. The streamlined low coach roof enhances performance and provides classic lines that attract attention in any marina. The self-tacking jib simplifies cruising, with all lines leading back to the cockpit. The current owner has sailed her around the world, primarily single-handed. The decks are uncluttered, featuring a deep, secure cockpit area. The interior cabin is spacious for a 43-foot boat, with an elegant feel. The navigation station is conveniently tucked into the corner with a comfortable adult-size chair. The U-shaped galley is highly efficient, featuring a solid molded double sink, a versatile pull-out faucet, a top-loading and front-loading fridge, and a separate top-loading freezer. The galley offers ample counter space, cabinets, and ventilation. The cream-colored Ultra-Leather upholstery complements the cherry finish cabinetry, enhancing the roomy feel. A wide flat-screen TV adds to the entertainment aesthetics of the saloon area, with dimmable light switches for warm, ambient lighting. Each cabin has its own electric fresh water head, eliminating odors. The forward owner's cabin features a semi-island style queen bed, a flat-screen TV, Bose speakers, a seating area, and hanging lockers. The aft cabin has a double bed with plenty of storage space. Included is a nine-foot AB aluminum bottom rib with engine and custom covers. Rio is a well-cared-for yacht, originally purchased brand new from the factory. She is currently sailing around the tropical islands of the Caribbean.

Built with advanced construction practices, it offers excellent performance with minimal effort. The long and lean hull is designed for stability and sail carrying ability, featuring a carbon mast and “Pocket Boom” for strength. The Tartan 4300 promises to be a head-turner in any harbor.

Rig

The Tartan 4300 is equipped with Tartan’s Cruise Control Rig, featuring a double spreader tapered carbon mast and a self-tacking 100% jib. The carbon rig is lighter, stiffer, and stronger than aluminum, providing stability. Upwind sailing is simplified with single sheet trimming for the jib. The headsails are easily managed with Harken furlers, and the mainsail is conveniently stowed in the Pocket Boom.

The Tartan 4300 offers unmatched interior comfort with options for two or three cabins. The forward owner's stateroom features a queen size double island berth and extensive storage. The main cabin area includes plush seating and plenty of storage in varnished cherry cabinetry. The galley is fully equipped for meal preparation, and the forward-facing nav station houses navigation equipment. The aft area can be configured with a single cabin or split aft cabin for private accommodations.

Additional Description

The hull design of the 4300 features a long waterline and carefully sculpted balanced volume for maximum performance. The design allows for predictable healing and excellent safety and comfort on deck. The Tartan 4300 includes wide sidedecks, a deep cockpit, and ample ventilation through multiple openings. A convenient walk-through transom provides easy access for swimming or boarding from a dinghy.
