BROKER NOTE - we are privileged to have been asked to deal with the sale of this performance cruiser of the 80s, now available from the second generation owner, who for health reasons is having to part with Chero.
We are seeking a rather special new owner, who will enjoy the boat and care for her for the next phase of life for this splendid fast cruising Tremlett 42.
DESIGNER/BUILDER - Chero was designed and built by Chris Tremlett, who was one of the most prominent designers of his time in designing performance power craft through the 70s.
This Mark2 version of the Tremlett 42 became a widely acknowledged and successful design, Chris having developed his deep-vee hull sections and spray rails running aft through the boat to give early planing and also a dry ride in head seas.
ENGINES - Powered by Twin Volvo TAMB 235hp Volvo diesels, Chero comes up on the plane early at about 14 kn and cruises effortlessly and smoothly at 18k at about 2,000 rpm - maximum speed about 23knots, as advised by the present owner, whose family purchased the boat soon after she was built.
Always maintained by the owner to a good standard for reliability and a recent full service has included new exhaust elbows, new exhaust hose, replacement oil cooler with new seawater strainers and water pump - both engines we understand to be in good operational condition.
EQUIPMENT - there is a good set of really large fenders, warps and loose equipment - only malfunctions we are aware of is the Simpson Lawrence power windlass, rev counters, wiper motors and radar; much of this is suspected to be electrical; we are also aware that there are no navigation electronics. There are two toilets on board, both fairly new, three bilge pumps, one is auto, large spare anchor and engine spares
DECKHOUSE - Deckhouse and Living area is spacious and comfortable with recent upholstery and convenient seating, dining table and storage facilities to port; and further upholstered seating to starboard for comfortable lounging. Superb visibility in all directions from forward when underway, both sides and aft to the full width patio-style door and windows.
GALLEY - Down a few steps and forward to starboard is the galley with usual facilities and to port is a comfortable berth with adjacent storage.
FORWARD CABIN - Forward of this is the master cabin with en-suite heads and washroom and forward again is the spacious and comfortable double berth with seating, several windows, shelves and storage.
AFT CABIN - Aft of the deckhouse a few steps lead down to an aft cabin with single berths port and starboard, plus a second ensuite toilet and wash-basin.
AFT DECK - the large aft deck area is accessed by a few convenient steps up out of the deckhouse on to a spacious aft deck, newly laid with teak cladding, extensive seating and storage, plus bathing platform and davit stowage for inflatable dinghy.
FLYBRIDGE - is accessed by outside steps with further seating and lounge area, where there is wheel steering and dual controls for engine. Excellent all-round visibility and sufficient room for all the crew.
FINAL COMMENTS - the asking price is attractive at £39,000 but does acknowledge there is certain expenditure to be incurred in purchasing navigation electronics and some electrical tidying up; also to fit diesel heating and pressurised water if required.
These are of course discretionary, but will enhance the specification and contribute to comfort on board.
