Remarks

This 1969 Neptune 33 Ketch features an exceptionally large aft semi-enclosed cockpit with wheel steering. The inventory includes a 2006 Beta Marine 37hp diesel engine with approximately 850 hours, seven berths, furling genoa, slab reefing mainsail, self-tailing genoa sheet winches, chart-plotter, davits, and more. She is a solid cruising boat with plenty of room. Viewing recommended.

Accommodation

Construction

GRP hull and deck with a long keel, under Lloyds supervision and to + 100A1 certificate. Encapsulated cast iron (no keel bolts to worry about). Fitted out by J. M. Shuttlewood & Son Ltd. (UK). Keel hung rudder (removed and serviced 2023). Hull in Navy blue with white cove line. Decks in white and grey with moulded-in non-skid pattern.

Notes: Hull below waterline taken back to bare gelcoat, all signs of damage and possible blistering ground out and re-finished (about 25 instances found, nothing larger than 3mm diameter). Bottom painted with 7 coats of Primocon underwater sealer and primer. All done in 2015.

Rigging and Sails

Bermudan Masthead Ketch. Gold Anodised aluminium masts and booms. 2 x Spinnaker poles. Galvanised mast step and tabernacle (refurbished and galvanised 2015). Backstay, Forestay and Emergency (stowable) inner forestay replaced in 2005. Standing rigging inspected in 2021. 2021 Halyards. 2002 Harken MK111 Genoa Roller Reefing. 2015 Lazyjacks on Mizzen and Main.

Notes: In 2015 both masts were un-stepped and inspected thoroughly including standing rigging. All fittings re-secured and all running rigging serviced. Slab Reefing fully battened Mainsail with 3 reefs (new 1995, refurbished 2002) (good condition). 1995 Furling Genoa (refurbished 2004, 2018 UV strip). Storm Jib with hanks (never used). 1993 Cruising Chute (rarely used). Mizzen (refurbished 2006). Lazybags for main and mizzen (serviced in 2021). 2021 Mizzen mast collar for lazybag.

Accommodation Forward Cabin

Double "V" berth, hanging locker, shelving, storage under the berth and opening deck hatch. Privacy via folding doors.

Separate Heads compartment to starboard

Marine WC with a 2022 Jabsco pump and sliding wash hand basin. Generous hanging locker and some shelving opposite to port.

Saloon

The spacious saloon (6'3" headroom) has two settee berths plus two pilot berths, saloon table with folding leafs and bottle storage, oodles of shelves and lockers. Opening deck hatch.

L-shaped Galley to port

Flavel Vanessa 2 x burner gas cooker with grill and oven. Weako CU-55 fridge (can be powered from 12v or 220v, automatic switch over). Stainless steel sink with pressurised cold water.

Navigation Table to starboard

Outboard facing table with instruments, 12V socket and USB outlet. Quarter berth aft of the chart table.

Sterling 1220 20A integrated show power battery charger (2005). 1 x 12v battery for engine starting (2022). 2 x 120ah Domestic batteries (2024). Vetus 12v Switch panel with fuses. Blue Sea Systems smart Split Charge Relay. 2 x Blue sea systems fuse and power distribution panels. Blue Sea Systems 3 position Master Battery Switch. Nasa Clipper BM1 Battery Monitor. All Internal Lights are sealed LED (new 2015). Red / White combination lights installed in all key locations for night time. 12V sockets and USB charging sockets at Helm and Chart Table. Deck level Nav Lights. Steaming Light (LED). Masthead Tricolour (might need attention). Gas cut-off solenoid system (new 2017).

Notes: Entire boat professionally rewired in 2015. All new primary wiring. Mostly new secondary wiring. All terminations redone and fitted with marine grade environmentally sealed crimps and splices. Provision for additional circuits installed and ready for use as required. Provision for wind generator also installed.

Owner's Comments

"Fastnet Moon" is an extremely strong, stable, secure boat and has a very easy motion in a rough sea with no slamming. She is easy to sail in heavy weather with just Jib and Mizzen. Her semi-enclosed helm position gives added protection from the elements and her large cockpit provides plenty of room for entertaining guests. She has been wintered ashore every year and her engine has been winterised and serviced every year.
