Pre Amble:

The Wharram Tiki 26 is a versatile, well-proven design known for its exceptional seaworthiness, ease of handling, and simplicity. This classic Polynesian-style catamaran is ideal for coastal cruising, island hopping, or even extended offshore passages. With its lightweight construction and shallow draft, the Tiki 26 can explore shallow waters inaccessible to many other vessels. This boat is perfect for those seeking a minimalist, eco-friendly, and economical sailing experience without sacrificing comfort and safety.

The Tiki 26 is renowned for its light wind performance and shallow draft, making it suitable for both coastal and bluewater cruising. The kick-up rudders allow for beaching in shallow waters, and the simple, efficient sail plan makes for easy handling even by a single sailor.

Boat Specification:

"Lookfar" was launched in 2002 after 3.5 years of construction by the current owner. The build was documented in a number of issues of the Polynesian Catamaran Association’s “Sea People” magazine. Her most recent voyage from the Netherlands to North Wales was the subject of an article in the RN Sailing Association 2022 Journal.
Lookfar is fitted for cruising and has crossed the North Sea four times and sailed extensively in the Netherlands reaching as far as Germany. To date she has sailed over 6,000 nautical miles. The boat was recently refitted and refreshed for the return from the Netherlands via the E.Coast and Caledonian Canal in 2022.
Lookfar was not constructed for trailer sailing but is easily moved by trailer or lorry several times. She has even been stored in the owner’s living room for well over a year for a refit. The collapsible nature of the design provides huge flexibility for storage and ease of maintenance.
This is a very reluctant sale as as the owner put the same care and attention into maintaining her as during the construction. She has spent a total 8 years out of the water of which 5 years have been undercover. A full refit was undertaken in 2014 with new 2 pack epoxy paint and Coppercoat antifouling. During this refit the tops of the beams and seats were sheathed in fibreglass as well as many other improvements and reinforcements including new standing rigging. A second refit was conducted in 2019-20 prior to a very short 2020 sailing season and subsequent long term storage in NL imposed by COVID travel restrictions.

Owners Comments:-

Commenced building 1999 in Plymouth, launched 2002 in Poole to a professional standard. Over 6000 nautical miles sailed on UK South Coast, Bristol Channel and extensively in the Wadenzee, Netherlands crossing the North Sea 4 times. Last voyage was from Den Helder to Conwy via the Caledonian Canal and Ireland. Articles written for various publications during build and last voyage. Very reluctant sale indeed. Owner needs a more pedestrian boat with headroom, heating and one that his wife is willing to sail aboard.
