Inside a Superyacht, the Feadship 155, Berilda

The Feadship name carries a powerful reputation in the superyacht world for exceptional craftsmanship, timeless design, and pure luxury. At the 2024 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, we joined Ken Bracewell of BR Marine Group aboard Berilda, a remarkable 155-foot Feadship listed for $17,950,000.

Berilda offers her owner, family and guests a classic gentleman’s interior, both formal and comfortable.

If we were looking for classic elegance and world-class performance in a package that’s been well maintained, we certainly found it aboard this yacht.

The Feadship Legacy

Feadship is known as the gold standard in the superyacht world, and Berilda, built in 2001 at Feadship’s prestigious Van Lent yard in the Netherlands, is no exception. The yacht boasts interior styling by the acclaimed designer John Munford; with no shortage of Honduras mahogany paneling, the yacht’s aesthetic deserves the label of “timeless gentleman’s classic.”

“The brand just means quality,” said Ken Bracewell in our interview. Attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship are evident throughout Berilda, which started life as Northern Light under the ownership of a member of the Royal Swedish Yacht Club.

Designed for Comfort and a Large Family

Berilda offers a layout that is both luxurious and practical. With five spacious staterooms, she comfortably accommodates up to 14 guests. Unique features include:

  • Children’s cabin: Located off the master stateroom, this cozy space features two bunks, perfect for families.
  • Twin cabins: Aft, a pair of cabins are equipped with Pullman berths for even more flexibility in the sleeping arrangements.

If outdoor living is your goal, this yacht’s exterior spaces are also exceptional. By relocating the tenders to the main deck aft, Berilda gains expansive lounging and seating areas, ideal for relaxing or entertaining. On the sun deck, you’ll find a jacuzzi and sun pads, a long bar for hanging out, and yet more lounging areas protected by umbrellas.

Modern Upgrades, Regular Refits

Berilda is no longer a new yacht but she has been carefully maintained and upgraded. According to Bracewell, her owners have invested $2 million in enhancements such as a state-of-the art LED lighting system, fully upgraded AC, and advanced monitoring systems. During her 20-year refit in 2020-2021, Berilda had a comprehensive refit, full paint job and 20-year Lloyds survey.

“We’ve kept her true to the nature of how she was originally built while incorporating modern technology,” said Bracewell. “This balance of classic design and modern convenience makes Berilda a true gem.”

Built for Global Adventure

What truly sets Berilda apart is her range and capability for long-distance cruising. Many yachts of her size would have to stretch their range to worldwide cruising potential. By comparison, Bracewell said:

“This boat is truly a worldwide vessel. We can cross the Atlantic at 13 knots and arrive with 26 percent fuel reserve. At 10 knots, she’s capable of a 5,000-mile range.”

In fact, Berilda covered 17,000 miles last summer, traveling from Florida to Greece, to Scotland, to Newport, and back to Florida. This capability makes her an ideal choice for owners who dream of exploring the farthest reaches of the globe.

Luxury, reliability, and adventure, Berilda looks like an exceptional choice thanks to her Feadship pedigree, roomy accommodations, and remarkable range. But no matter your ambition, Berilda offers a world of elegance and craftsmanship unlike that of most newer superyachts. We enjoyed our morning on board and look forward to hearing that this special yacht has found its next owner.
