Boat Overview

Introducing s/v Solaris, this unique 2005 Alubat Ovni 435 is in immaculate condition! Since 1973, Alubat, based in Les Sables D’Olonne, France, was among the first of French builders to use aluminum as their build material and they continue to build around 50 top quality cruising yachts each year. All these vessels are made entirely of aluminum. Not only are these blue water cruisers built tough, but they are versatile, with a lifting keel and rudder making it able to cruise very shallow waters and to be easily beached as well. Most of these fine yachts are still cruising around the world now.

Interior Features

On the interior, the Alubat Ovni 435 has utilized every bit of space with her inverted and rounded bow, giving her full length at the waterline. s/v Solaris has a stunning interior with oak trim and cabinetry throughout and a teak and holly floor, all in perfect condition. With a 13’8” beam and 6’4” headroom throughout, she has abundant storage and plenty of space for extra guests. She is a 3-cabin layout with 2 heads, each with a shower. Her salon is bright and open with 2 large opening hatches for extra ventilation and a very large u-shaped dinette to seat many. The galley has plenty of counter space with refrigeration and a propane stove and oven. The 2 stainless steel sinks utilize fresh and salt water. The fresh water has a filtration system and there is an Aquabase XA223, 90 L/h water maker to keep the freshwater tanks full (159 liters of water in 2 tanks). Also, for your comfort, there is a 12000 BTU a/c to cool the salon and forward cabin and a 5000 BTU that cools the aft cabins.

Engine and Performance

s/v Solaris is powered by a well-maintained 2005 Volvo Penta D2 55 diesel engine. In 2022, the engine and transmission were overhauled at 4243 operating hours, it now has 4583 hours, and the fuel lines from the tanks to the filters were also replaced. This vessel carries 360L of fuel (two 150L, one 60L tanks). She is also equipped with a side power bow thruster and has a new 2024 portable 3.3kw generator. The vessel has been set up for single-handed sailing. The forward bow thruster adds for ease of single handling. All sails are in good condition: Main sail is fully battened with 3 reefs; both the Jib and the Genoa 85% Head-sail are with a Profurl roller furling. The Genoa winches are bigger than the standard size, the foresail is also removable and the rigging was renewed in 2020. The dinghy davits system with electric winch will lift the 8’ Caribe dinghy and the 2020 8hp Yamaha outboard.

Cruising History

Since 2013 and currently, s/v Solaris has been extensively cruised all throughout the Caribbean and Central America. She has been constantly cared for and is still cruising between the Rio Dulce, Guatemala and Belize. Showings can be set to meet with the vessel along its cruising journey. The current owner is selling s/v Solaris with a long list of spare parts, equipment and features for the next fortunate sailors, please inquire for a detailed list.

Conclusion

S/v Solaris is a solid, versatile blue water cruiser without sacrificing comfort and safety at sea. She is equipped to go now just pack your suitcase and sail away!
