Boat Overview

1993 Beneteau Oceanis 351
 Price: £43,950

Design and Ownership

The Oceanis 351 was an extremely successful design, once acclaimed as the most popular 35 footer in Europe. While many examples were sold for charter operations, 'Maeve' has always been in private ownership and appears to have been well spec'd by a succession of experienced and discerning owners.

Upgrades and Maintenance
  • Underwater sections have been epoxied.
  • New Z spars mast and replacement of standing rigging in 2018.
  • Much of the running rigging replaced in 2018.
  • New genoa in 2021 (mainsail dates from 2005).
  • Attention to electrical and electronic equipment.
Accommodation

'Maeve' has a three-cabin 6+ berth layout, featuring:

  • Twin berth cabin forward.
  • Linear galley to port within the main saloon.
  • Seating and dining table to starboard opposite the galley.
  • Heads compartment to starboard (aft of the dining area).
  • Forward-facing and independent chart table.
  • Two equal sized and mirrored aft cabins, each with a double berth.
The Forward Cabin

Provides a triangular double berth ahead of a full width sole area. Open storage shelf to both sides of the berth. To port side, there is a shelved locker, and to starboard, a half-height hanging locker. Good light and ventilation from opening portlights and an overhead hatch. Both windows and hatch have roller blinds. Fire extinguisher included.

Main Saloon

A generous dining area is located toward the starboard side, with good light from fixed hull port and deck light, supplemented by opening portlights. Stowage lockers beneath the seating and behind some backrest cushions. The table is a good size and firmly mounted. Fire extinguisher included.

Linear Galley

Offers practical utility with:

  • Large, moulded and refrigerated cold box aft of the cooker.
  • Generous saucepan locker beneath the cooker.
  • Closed locker spaces beneath one and a half stainless steel sinks (hot & cold mixer tap, plus supplementary cold-water supply).
  • Thoughtfully fitted out under work surface lockers.
  • Good ventilation from an opening portlight above the cooker.
  • Two burner fully gimballed cooker (Neptune 2500 by Plastimo) with grill and oven.
  • Fire Blanket included.
Chart Table

Located immediately aft of the galley, featuring:

  • Dedicated, forward-facing chart table.
  • Main 12V DC and 220-240V AC distribution panels.
  • Flat screen TV monitor fitted above the table.
  • VHF and entertainment radios located here.
Heads Compartment

Located to starboard, opposite the chart table, providing equal access to all three sleeping cabins. Fitted with a marine-flushing toilet connected to a holding tank, a moulded hand basin, and a separate shower head.

Twin Aft Cabins

Mirror images of each other, featuring:

  • Fixed hull port and curved port forming a corner.
  • Overhead opening hatches & portlights for light and ventilation.
  • Half-height hanging lockers in each cabin.
  • Dual USB Charging sockets and fire extinguishers.
Interior Features

The interior woodwork is finished in popular 'Teak', with Teak and Holly soleboards. Soft furnishings are in a soft green with grey fleck 'Dralon'-type fabric.

Heating and Entertainment

A Webasto diesel hot air heating system is fitted, with 220-240V AC UK sockets around the yacht. A stereo CD/radio is included, along with speakers in the main saloon and cockpit. The flat screen monitor can be used as a TV, with a Glomex omni-directional antenna fitted at the masthead and a signal amplifier.

Mechanical and Electrical Systems

A Volvo Penta 2003 marine diesel, rated at approx. 28HP, is flexibly mounted behind the companionway steps and drives a three-bladed folding propeller through a conventional stainless steel shaft. The engine is indirectly cooled through a heat exchanger and heats the domestic hot water when running.

  • Engine running hours: 1870 (April 2024).
  • Max Power bow thruster fitted with controls at cockpit helm.
Electrical System

12V DC is provided by six lead acid batteries:

  • 3 x 75A/hr batteries for 'Domestic and Service' bank.
  • 1 x 74 A/hr battery for engine cranking.
  • 2 x 50A/hr deep cycle batteries for the bow thruster.

Charging is by engine-driven alternator, photovoltaic (solar) panel, and 240V AC shore battery charger.

A Sterling PDAR smart charging regulator is fitted for maximum battery charging efficiency.
