Broom are famous for building attractive cruisers and larger craft. The Admiral range was built of mahogany on oak. In the fifties and sixties many families would have gone on holidays on board these boats which were often built for hire with large families in mind. Admiral VII was built to accommodate 7 people sleeping on board but the current and previous owners have used her more as a liveaboard for two people with room for two guests. This gives you a lot of living area including a charming aft cockpit. The forward saloon area has a sliding roof so there is plenty of fresh air. The windscreen folds down allowing access to the Upper Thames or throughout the whole of the Norfolk Broads cruising area.

The boat is powered by a single BMC 2.5 litre diesel engine with ample fuel storage (200 litres). The water tank holds 350 litres and the holding, or black, water tank has a capacity of 275 litres.

In August 2019 the owner took the boat downstream from his Oxford mooring to be slipped and inspected at Dennetts of Chertsey where some planking and caulking were replaced. The hull was then recoated in bitumen before being antifouled in dark blue. The coach roofs were repainted in a 2 pack gloss. Invoices are available showing the full scope of works carried out.

Walking through the boat from the bow you have a full size WC with an electric macerator feeding into the holding tank, and a wash basin with storage and LED lighting.

A door feeds into the master cabin with a full sized double bed, 2 dressing tables, a wardrobe, TV with DVD and a log effect electric fire. A skylight leads to the coach roof via a ladder.

Moving aft and up the steps to a folding wheehouse with fold down seating to allow access to the engine compartment below. In October 2017 a new windscreen was fitted as well as a 1.5 kw inverter, a 30 Ah battery charger and 3 batteries, 2 of which are for the domestic services on board.

Aft of the wheelhouse on the port side you will find storage, a calorifier and a 240 volt fuse box. On the starboard side is the shower room and a second WC with the original 1960s washbasin and mirror.

In the saloon the original Broom drop leaf table with 2 drawers is still in situ. The current owner has added a 3 seater Chesterfield and a folding banquette with storage, as well as a 32 inch 3D TV, Blue Ray player, soundbar, cocktail cabinet, storage cupboard and double glazed windows.

Aft of the saloon and opening into the neat aft cockpit is the galley with a gas over and grill, 4 burner hob, microwave/combi oven, all fitted with a gas alarm. Ample storage cupboards and a full sized fridge/freezer with sink and draining board complete the galley offering.

Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and fire extinguishers ensure safety precautions are met.

In addition to boat hooks, anchor, fnders ropes etc there is also a protective canvas overall cover.

Admiral VII is registered with the National Historic Ships UK.
