Classic 9'6" Salcombe Sailing Pram Dinghy for sale in Devon United Kingdom

Pretty clinker pram dinghy built in Salcombe, either by Coves or Stones. Her original name is Tern and she was part of the Salcombe Sailing Club as denoted by the lettering on her transom.

Slightly bigger than the standard 8’ pram makes her more practical but still easy to launch and recover.

The boat is in need of work although she has been afloat this summer. In previous ownership she was ashore for a number of years and the hull planks have dried out a little with a couple of shakes that need repairing. The rig seems complete but has not been together for some time.

This would be an excellent project for someone with garage space at home and the time and skills to work on her through the winter. A pretty boat in basically very sound condition, she could be made to look extremely smart in the right hands and would be a very rewarding project.

She comes with a road trailer that has good wheels and bearings so she can be towed away without concern.

Construction

• Clinker planked in mahogany all copper rivet fastened to fine steam bent oak timbers.
• Solid mahogany transoms.
• Varnished oak rubbing strake and inwhales with mahogany quarter knees.
• Varnished mahogany thwarts.
• Oak slatted sole boards
• Solid mahogany rudder and dagger board.

Rig

• Gunter rig on a keel stepped mast.
• All spars in varnished pine, mast, gunter yard and boom.
• Stainless steel standing rigging with lanyards.
• All running rigging appears to be with the boat.
• 3 x mainsails including 1 x white terylene and 2 x original cotton mainsails.
• Original cotton jib in poor condition. Jib has a wire luff with hanks.
