Daniel Bombigher Shpountz 44-40 schooner launched in 2012.
Bombigher designed this schooner from the keel up as a comfortable, safe and capable cruising home, something the design has proved itself to be.
This yacht was built in France and launched in 2012. After a few years of light cruising, she was put ashore in a covered shed and has been dry stored for 4 years and has been professionally maintained and upgraded leaving her in possibly better than new condition.
These boats are very capable sea boats with a versatile yet powerful rig that is easily handled and can be altered to all manner of weather conditions and sailing angles. Her shallow draft with a deep centreplate enables her to access areas similar size deep drafted yachts cannot, yet the centreplate gives her excellent performance at sea. The owners frequently passage plan on 8 knots and have seen speeds of 11-12 knots without being out of control.
The deck layout offers plenty of space for working the rig and relaxing, while below decks her spacious accommodation is ideal for long distance cruising and living aboard.
After launching the yacht, the owners undertook sea trials and set sail in 2013 on a planned world adventure. They voyaged through the Mediterranean and sailed with just 2 people across the Atlantic and explored the whole Caribbean, heading north To Nova Scotia where the boat was put in a shed for the winter of 2014. After carrying out upgrades and improvements, she sailed south in 2015 to Bermuda, then west towards Panama. Sadly health issues for the owners put a stop to their plans, the yacht was brought back to France as deck cargo and laid up inside a shed in 2016 where she has remained ever since. She has been thoroughly maintained despite remaining in the shed and is well looked after, aired and cleaned. The boat will need to be removed, machinery and systems commissioned, rig set up and sea trials conducted, but there should be very little work to do on this superb yacht before she is ready to sail once again.

Construction
- Cold Moulded construction with 5 layers all epoxy bonded. Total thickness of 4cm.
- Strip plank inner layer overlaid with mahogany and 2 layers of Grand Bassam in diagonal planks, finished with a top layer of horizontal iroko planking.
- This type of construction makes for a very rigid, strong and low maintenance hull.
- Laminated iroko frames and floors all epoxy bonded to the hull.
- Laminated keel, stem and stern post.
- Centreplate is massively constructed meaning it can be lowered in any conditions. Controlled by a large manual winch on deck.
- Deck construction of marine plywood, sheathed in glass cloth and finished with straight laid teak planking.
- Bulwark all round for safety.
Rig
- Schooner rigged with sharply raked wooden pole masts.
- Wooden booms, gaffs and bowsprit.
- All spars are made from Spruce and finished in paint.
- 7×19 stainless steel wire rigging to dead eyes and lanyards with external chain plates set over channel boards. Rigging new in 2015.
- The rig allows for numerous sail configurations making her very flexible depending on the needs of weather and crew.
- Boomed staysail for ease of handling.

Machinery
- Nanni Diesel N4.115 115hp 4cyl marine diesel installed new in 2008.
- Only 1055 hours of run time.
- Hydraulic gearbox to a fixed 3 blade bronze propeller. 7 knots cruising at 5 litres/hour. 9 knots max speed.
- Hydraulic bow thruster, Max Power CTHYD 125 with 24 volt electric/hydraulic system.
- 850 litres of diesel in 2 x stainless steel tanks (500l and 350l)
- 350 litre stainless steel water tank.
- 10 x 12 volt batteries for domestics and engine starting. Charged from engine alternator or 240 volt battery charger.
- Fischer Panda 4kVa diesel generator.
- 2 x manual bilge pumps and 3 x auto electric bilge pumps.
Accommodation
- 8 berths in total comprising 6 single berths and 1 double berth.
- Headroom up to 2m.
- Beautifully built interior with varnished iroko joinery and white painted T&G panelled bulkheads.
- Aft owners cabin with a double berth set athwartships.
- Galley with a Taylors 030 Paraffin stove with oven and grill. Stainless sink with hot and cold pressurised water.
