The current owners have owned this Sloop for 30 years and lived on her at one time for 12 years. Columbia Yachts is one of the earliest, largest, and most successful American Builders of production fiberglass sailing yachts. This Sloop is powered by a single Perkins 4-107, 53 HP diesel engine when not under sail with an estimated 1000 hours on the engine. The owners report that the engine starts every time. The Columbia is built on a racing hull and does very well heading into the wind. The owner says you can sail this boat anywhere in the world and live a comfortable sailing life. This Columbia is well equipped and sails close to the wind. The deep draft makes her stable at anchor. The owner has sailed in 55-knot winds and 30-foot seas while he was at the helm. In his first gale she never even creaked or had an objection and powered through. The Columbia 45 has a larger open living space than many sailboats.
