The Cornish Crabber is without a doubt one of the prettiest boats that you will ever lay eyes on. This particular boat has been in the hands of the same family since she was new and has been a much loved family cruiser. Most recently she has been mainly day sailed but her owner has maintained her to a high standard. Mechanically she was repowered in 2001 and the engine was removed and overhauled in 2024. Her sails and rigging have been regularly replaced and her bright work is in great shape for her years.
Below decks is comfy and remarkably spacious when you consider her fairly narrow beam.
Vessel is powered by a single cylinder Yanmar 1GM10, 9hp inboard diesel engine. The engine was installed in 2001 and has been regularly maintained. Her most recent overhaul was earlier in 2024 when the engine was removed, stripped down, all gaskets replaced and repainted. Prior to installing the engine bay was stripped, cleaned and repainted.
Single lever engine control with forward and reverse gearing. Engine start panel with stop/start buttons and audible/visual warnings for oil pressure, temperature and charging.
Reduction gearbox driving stainless steel shaft and 3-bladed fixed propeller.
Bank of 2X12V batteries fitted with a rotary style selector switch. These provide engine start and domestic power. Batteries are recharged via the engine alternator or the onboard solar powered trickle charger. Onboard battery management system.
Gaff rigged yacht with varnished deck stepped spruce spars. Mast mounted in a tabernacle and by using a block and tackle and mast crutch the main mast can be raised and lowered. Stainless steel and rope standing rigging which has been regularly replaced. Masthead shorods were replaced in 2019 and the running backstays replaced in 2024.
Comprehensive sail wardrobe in traditional tan. These include:
Below decks is bright and welcoming. Easy clean vinyl berth cushions and mahogany interior trim and panels add a touch of class.
GRP constructed sailing yacht with centre board keel, counter hung rudder and tiller steering. Boat is wintered ashore, under cover every year and antifouled prior to launch. Hull topsides finished in attractive racing green. Sprusc bowsprit.
Decks and cockpit are a mixture of marine ply and varnished iroko. All bright work is finished in gloss Deks Olje coatings.
Side decks, foredeck and cockpit locker tops finished in cream non-slip deck paint.
Deep safe cockpit with locker storage. Traditional fittings used throughout including galvanised mooring posts. All deck fitting for lines have tufnell linings to keep her in keeping with the era.
Ventilated rear cockpit gas locker. Copper pipe between bottle and hob.
