The boats were built in the naval yard of Grumant, mainly by apprentices. The quality of work was good, but the materials used were not and within a short period of time there was found to be extensive rot in the hull structure. The ship ended up in Cardiff and was put ashore, under a vast marquee, where the rebuild work started. The majority of the original laminated frames were replaced, the centreline structure replaced as necessary, all new planking, a complete new deck and transom. She is essentially a new ship in need of completing. Due to financial circumstances the ship is being sold as is, ready for the next owner to complete her. There is very little work to do before she could be launched and towed away. There is an engine of unknown condition with the boat. The majority of the spars are with her but no sails. The interior fit out has been started but needs to be completed to the new owners specification.
