The boats were built in the naval yard of Grumant, mainly by apprentices. The quality of work was good, but the materials used were not and within a short period of time there was found to be extensive rot in the hull structure. The ship ended up in Cardiff and was put ashore, under a vast marquee, where the rebuild work started. The majority of the original laminated frames were replaced, the centreline structure replaced as necessary, all new planking, a complete new deck and transom. She is essentially a new ship in need of completing. Due to financial circumstances the ship is being sold as is, ready for the next owner to complete her. There is very little work to do before she could be launched and towed away. There is an engine of unknown condition with the boat. The majority of the spars are with her but no sails. The interior fit out has been started but needs to be completed to the new owners specification. A superb ship for film work or some kind of charter business, she is a brand new hull presented as a blank canvas for a new owner to finish as they wish. Length on deck 59' Length Overall 97' Beam 15'2" Draft 7'6" Sail Area 234sqm   Construction Planked in 2" Siberian larch in long lengths of good quality clear grained timber. All planking is new. Seams payed with pitch. Fastened with galvanised boat nails to sawn oak frames. A few original pine frames remain but the vast majority are new in seasoned oak. Mix of sawn timber and galvanised strap floors across the centreline. All keel bolts new in galvanised mild steel. Internal ballast of iron pigs. The intention was to cover the loose ballast with concrete and add an external steel shoe for extra weight. The amount of ballast required was professionally calculated and planned. Solid straight laid iroko deck, caulked and payed on new iroko deck beams. Raised poop deck aft. Skylight and hatch coamings in iroko. Bulwark all round on heavy stanchions. Heavy transom hung wooden rudder on new galvanised hangings. Tiller steering with a large laminated tiller.     Rig Built with a topsail schooner rig to original 18th century plans. The majority of the spars are with the vessel and in good order, only 3 smaller spars will need to be made. Solid timber keel stepped masts with fidded topmasts. The plan had been to fit rope standing rigging to dead eyes and lanyards, however a new owner could use galvanised wire. Many brand new wooden blocks have been made for the new rig and will be sold with the boat. Numerous other rigging parts already made up are included. There are no sails with the vessel.     Machinery Volvo Penta TAMD 41HD145hp 6cyl turbo diesel engine included in the sale but not currently installed. The actual condition of this engine is unknown. The engine beds are in place and the stern tube hole is has been drilled out ready for the new stern gear. No shaft or propeller. 2 x stainless steel fuel tanks are in place in the engine room, total capacity of 1500 litres     Accommodation Some fit out has been completed below decks but could be altered to suit the new owner and the future purpose of the vessel. Aft cabin with 4 single berths and a heads compartment. Currently no heads fitted. Large saloon area with a seating area and central saloon table. Space for a large galley to starboard and heads/shower compartments to port. Aft of this is an empty space that will likely be made into several cabins. Forward of the saloon is a newly fitted out crew cabin with 5 single berths   Equipment 2 x manual bilge pumps 2 x electric bilge pumps   2 x Fishermans anchors CQR kedge anchor Masts and numerous spars Lots of rigging parts including many new wooden blocks.     Full specification and details available upon request       Disclaimer: These particulars have been prepared in good faith from information provided by the Vendors and are intended as a guide, Wooden Ships cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessel.
