Explorer 62 is designed by Davide Cipriani of Centrostiledesign and built by Explorer Yachts at the new Lombardo Loy shipyard in Bergamo, Italy. It is an incredibly comfortable and convenient yacht and its spacious interior gives the impression of being aboard a much larger craft. Explorer 62 is built as an owners-driven yacht and safety is of utmost importance aboard this vessel. It has three stabilizing mechanisms that ensure unparalleled stability, eliminating the need for anchoring in open waters thanks to the advanced GPS System. The theme that characterizes this Explorer 62 is its innovative layout and it is designed to improve life on board for its guests. It is no coincidence that this boat won the prestigious "Best Layout 2021" award assigned by World Yachts Trophies.
This Explorer 62 is conceived as a modern flat where the only constraints are the sliding doors in the saloon and the steering position. On main deck, exteriors and interiors can be connected as a single room by opening French windows, deconstructing a corner and allowing free circulation of fresh air. The saloon on this Explorer 62 has a 70 sqm living area and it is insulated from both hot and cold.
Sleeping quarters have very bright rooms with large side windows, carefully designed furniture and fabrics. Bathrooms have wide and high showers with sturdy, tall and spacious sinks.
For the interior decoration, Explorer Yachts have prepared a solution combining calacatta marble in the cabins and noir desire marble in the bathrooms, lacquered blacks and matt whites. To ensure privacy and noise containment, Explorer Yachts have used double bulkheads and doors to the highest nautical standards.
Explorer 62 has a straight hull with a life-saving bulb, completely watertight and insulated. It has the function of breaking any objects that get in the way of the yacht's navigation such as logs, floating objects, containers and any ice formations. The bulb is made entirely of fibreglass, located in the lower front part of the boat, and is designed to protect the hull and the Volvo Penta IPS pods. The main steering station is in a forward position towards the bow, the windscreen is made from a single piece of glass with a 180-degree view, to maximize the helmsman's visibility. Two additional helm stations are located on the flybridge and aft. The boat is equipped with bilge and autoclave pumps, double anchor system, two winches and two 50 kg steel anchors. With her double systems, she is the only vessel under 20 metres to have a large-ship anchorage system. Gunwales from bow to stern are higher than most yachts, to ensure lateral safety as in a large ship.
The staircase to access the flybridge was moved to the port side, which is completely made of glass, to allow an optimal view of the stern from the helm station.
Explorer 62 is also equipped with a unique stability system, through 24 V electrical operation, consisting of carbon fins, flaps and a seakeeper, which are governed by specially designed software. This makes the boat more comfortable to be on and reduces the risk of seasickness or other discomfort.
On the main deck, the key feature that identifies this boat is the choice of the forward driving position. The bow is the wettest and windiest place on the moving boat and most prone to oscillation caused by wave motion. As a result, having the helm station located in a more forward position makes navigation easier and safer.
One of the special features of the layout is that the galley is positioned next to the steering position, which has its advantages. First, the convenience of navigating and cooking without leaving the steering position. Secondly, the elegant solution of leaving the entrance to the hall free. The main deck is furnished with a large dining table, sofa and an open area that can be fully customized, with sofas and accessories which can be moved and arranged as desired.
On the lower deck, you have a full-beam owner's cabin with a separate bathroom and closet. For guest accommodation, this Explorer 62 offers a 3 cabin version that provides comfortable sleeping arrangements for up to 6 people. Under the stairs to the sleeping quarters, there is also an additional cabin with a single bed or alternatively a crew room. Crew quarters with one pullman bed is located at the stern. This area can also be used as workspace, it has wash/dry and a storage place. Moving deeper into the boat, closer to the engine room, you will find an extra bathroom equipped with a shower and toilet.
On aft, a hydraulic garage door with a central glass part with vertical sliding allows safe lowering of the tender at sea. Double entrance to the engine room with fireproof and watertight class A door on port side. These doors not only provide access to the engine room but also serve as secure gateways to the crew cabin, accessible from both the stern and the main deck.
Access to the flybridge is situated on the port side of the main deck. Here, you'll find a second helm station and a fully furnished area complete with an adjustable table, spacious sofa, sunpads, fridges, BBQ, and ample open space for two sun chairs.
