CATALINA SUNSHINE is recognized as the finest originally equipped and best finished 64’ Grand Alaskan Pilothouse ever built. She has been extensively upgraded from a coastal cruiser to an accomplished international passage maker. With designer-specified finishes, CATALINA SUNSHINE has been continuously maintained and upgraded with an open checkbook. All major systems are like new, making her ready for any journey.
Upscaling
Equipped with two 800 hp 3406E commercial-grade Caterpillar engines, CATALINA SUNSHINE is the only 64’ Grand Alaskan with these large engines. She cruises at 9 to 10 knots, operating at 50% capacity, which extends engine life and allows for a top speed of 19 knots when necessary to evade pirates and storms.
Both main engines were overhauled in the boat at the beginning of 2011. Thanks to rigorous maintenance and skilled helmsmanship, CATALINA SUNSHINE remains youthful and ready for her next adventure.
Her original equipment includes larger stabilizers than any other 64’ Grand Alaskan. This, combined with her deep entry bow and full keel, ensures an extraordinarily comfortable ride at all points of sail. The yacht also features a fuel polishing system capable of transferring polished fuel between the four onboard tanks.
Additionally, the original equipment includes two hydraulic pumps connected to the power take-off on the Twin Disc marine transmissions, one of which is redundant. Each pump can power the hydraulic bow thruster, hydraulic stabilizers, hydraulic windlass, and a large hydraulic engine room bilge pump. The engine room is equipped with three bilge pumps: two redundant, a large hydraulic pump, an electric pump, and a manual pump. A spare set of props is also included in this sale.
