The layout features three staterooms and three heads, providing all the accommodations and amenities your guests will ever need. This layout has proven to be very successful for Gulfstar Yachts. The 50 is capable of maintaining a speed of 7 knots or better under working sail when the wind exceeds 12 knots, although it performs better in moderate to heavy weather. In lighter winds, spinnakers and mizzen staysails may be necessary to sustain good speed.

The forward stateroom features a v-berth with a filler cushion that converts to a double bed. This stateroom shares the day head with the salon area. Aft to port is the dinette area, equipped with a drop leaf table and settees on both port and starboard sides. Aft to starboard is the navigation station, followed by the second stateroom with a private head. Continuing aft to port is the L-shaped galley, which runs down the walk-through alley beneath the center cockpit. The twin stainless steel sinks are positioned close to the centerline for effective drainage on either tack. Further aft is the master stateroom, which includes an en suite head and a separate stall shower.
