OWNERS COMMENTS
This is rare chance to buy an affordable classic Hallberg Rassy 352 in excellent condition. A boat which not only has beautiful classic lines but is built to Lloyd’s specification in 1979 when GRP construction was much more rigorous. This means she is totally dependable with a long cast iron encapsulated keel and skeg hung rudder she is capable of going literally to any ocean and can also explore all the smaller drying harbours with her ability to sit comfortably on the bottom and lean against a harbour wall.
We have owned her since 2011 and have extensively renovated and updated her since then. When purchased by us she had within the previous 2 years had a new Raymarine hydraulic ram autopilot fitted which is extremely reliable, TackTick windvane and log and a feathering propeller by Darglow, and a new Hyde high cut 100% jib.
Since then we have done the following:
2011: New electronics including Lowrance 8 inch chart plotter; Advansea Class B AIS transceiver; Lowrance SonicHub sound system.
2011 Merlin Smartgauge battery management system (protects starter battery with voltage dependant relay)
2011 All filament bulbs replaced with LED.
2011 New rear gantry with dinghy davits holding new solar panels. Space and wiring for radar.
2011 Reglassing of for’ard 4 stanchion posts and replacement of 2 x for’ard caprail sections
2011 New stainless steel propane 2 burner hob grill and oven
2012 New MTech MT500 VHS/DSC digital radio
2014 Mikuni diesel hot air central heating system
2014 Hatches removed, serviced and Perspex replaced
2015 New Raske and vd Meyde toilet
2015 New Kemp offshore cruising main sail. ¾ battened, triple reef points, regularly serviced.
2015 New Lewmar traveller track for mainsheet system
2015 New standing rigging and mast serviced.
2016 New sprayhood (Kemp)
2017 New Tektank heads 40litre holding tank with pumpout access.
2017 Solar panels upgraded to 2 x 80W Victron solar panels with Victron MPPT 75/15 voltage controller.
2018 New Waeco CU50 12V fridge compressor (draws 4A intermittently – very efficient)
2021 Teak deck completely refurbished by TLC Boatcare of Conway (who refitted a teak deck for Tom Cunliffe).
2021 New stainless steel windows
2021 Hull stripes professionally repainted in 2 pack paint HR blue.
2022 Reglassing of stern 4 stanchion posts and replacement of 3 sections of stbd 3 x caprails.
2023 Hull antifouling stripped back to gelcoat with chemical peel and re-antifouled.
2022 New Rocna 15kg main anchor and anchor chain (60 metres) replaced.
2024 Propellor shaft Cutlass bearing replaced (FAL propellors, Buckie)
2024 New house batteries 2 x 120 Ah Enduroline Ca+
Of note, replacing the mainsail and traveller system in 2015 dramatically improved her performance upwind enabling her to sail 15 degrees closer to wind. Although 9 years old the main remains in excellent condition and continues to perform well.
In addition to all of this we have meticulously performed her annual servicing of the very reliable Perkins M60 diesel engine with new primary diesel filter, oil change and oil filter and biannual replacement of secondary diesel filter.
We have performed annual antifouling, and annual checking and changing of prop and hull anodes.
She is a well-used boat who in 2012 took us on a UK circumnavigation and since has taken us all over the UK and northern Europe having created wonderful memories and experiences. Her systems, notably the balanced 12 volt power system with solar power, means you can be “off-grid” anchoring for days or indeed weeks at a time. We are extremely sad to be selling her but with busy lives and eight grandchildren find we cannot use her as much as we would like to so are reluctantly parting with her.
As part of re-insuring her for 2024/25 we have had a survey commissioned which is available for any purchaser to read. It confirms her overall good condition. We are working through the list of recommendations within it.
Additional items to be sold with the boat:
130% genoa. We have never used it. Date unknown.
