Construction
Privilege catamarans are well known for their excellent build quality. Privilege used higher quality materials and equipment then most production catamarans. This is reflected in their new perches price and the durability over time. Privilege made the 39ft from 1985 to 1994. Aloha is hull number 85 launched in 1994. Aloha is incredibly solid and doesn’t flex or twist in large seas, unlike some other Cats. Aloha was built on a semicustom basis. Her hulls are scored vacuum packed composite, cored from the waterline up and solid fiberglass from the waterline down. The deck is cored throughout, except in areas of high loading. In high stress areas Aloha has been reinforced with Kevlar. She feels very firm under your feet. She does not squeak or creek from flexing bulkheads or joinery. Her outstanding quality construction makes for a comfortable and quiet sail. The interior features hand-cut wooden bulkheads and furniture facings instead of molded liners. One of the reasons Privilege boats have been more expensive than their competitors is the company doesn't take advantage of scale production techniques. The boats are literally built the old-fashioned way, which is unique in the multihull universe. The interior joinery work is excellent. The fiberglass sculpting is also excellent. The hull-and-deck joint incorporates the expansive bridge deck on a flange. The forward crossbeam is heavy gauge aluminum and mounted on an universal joint. The upward V-shaped striker helps carry the load for the forestay. The mast and boom are high quality “Marechal” with over sized rigging for offshore sailing. Aloha is a very high quality constructed Catamaran that can take you anywhere you want to go.
