The gasoline engine has the unjustified reputation in Europe of being a fire hazard. However, across the pond, 85% of boats sail with a gasoline engine! On this boat the entire fuel system, i.e. tank, fuel hose, filter, fuel pump and carburetor has been renewed or overhauled. The electrics have also been completely renewed. There is also a spark-free fan installed that ventilates the engine room for starting. In addition, the boat is equipped with 2 fire extinguishers.
