They are excited to announce their Annual Founders Event, set to take place on Thursday, October 31st, 2024, at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa, during the prestigious Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. This event not only celebrates the achievements of the founders but also honors the vessels in the DISCOVERY Fleet that significantly contribute to marine research, education, and advocacy.

The International SeaKeepers Society (SeaKeepers) is a global non-profit that facilitates oceanographic research, conservation, and education through direct involvement with the yachting community. Providing educational resources and hands-on marine science experiences to students is the primary focus for ensuring the future wellbeing of our planet. SeaKeepers enables the yachting community to take full advantage of their unique potential to advance marine sciences and raise awareness about global ocean issues.

Over the years, SeaKeepers has grown into a leading champion for ocean conservation, expanding its influence across four continents—North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Their programs, including the DISCOVERY Yacht Program, have facilitated countless research missions and educational outreach initiatives in collaboration with global partners. Together, they are amplifying their impact across multiple disciplines, addressing the urgent challenges facing our oceans.

This year, the Founders Event will honor two exceptional individuals who exemplify dedication to ocean conservation: Guy Harvey, the 2024 SeaKeeper of the Year, and Shireen Rahimi, the 2024 NextGen Awardee. Guy Harvey is a renowned artist, scientist, diver, angler, conservationist, explorer, and entrepreneur, passionately devoted to his family and his love of the sea. Shireen Rahimi, an Iranian-American marine scientist and visual storyteller, is the founder of Lightpalace Productions, using her platform to elevate marine narratives.

SeaKeepers will also recognize over 40 vessels that have supported scientist-led expeditions, citizen science initiatives, educational outreach, and community engagement on a global scale. Their commitment to these efforts reinforces the crucial role that the yachting community plays in ocean conservation.

The legacy of SeaKeepers' founders serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of vision and dedication in conservation efforts. As they look to the future, SeaKeepers remains inspired by their commitment and continues to expand programs, engage diverse communities, and foster collaboration among stakeholders. While the challenges facing our oceans are significant, the foundation laid by their members and founders equips them to confront these issues with renewed vigor.
