Owner's Comments

Cuckoo is a 2020 Catalina 385. This proven blue water passage maker has national (NMMA) and international (CE Category A "Ocean") ratings, which indicate that this boat was intended for passage-making in challenging conditions from the start. A lead keel, long traveler for precise sail control, and lengthy inboard genoa tracks ensure the sail plan is balanced in all wind conditions. The Doyle UPS asymmetrical spinnaker with Selden Code X furler makes reaching more fun. Her shallow draft makes for excellent Chesapeake Bay sailing as well as exploring further abroad in shallower waters such as the Bahamas. Her 200 ft chain rode and array of anchors keeps her in place in any bottom or weather conditions: the Fortress FX-23 is perfect for the Chesapeake Bay and other mud bottoms; the Vulcan 20 is great for a wide variety of bottoms; and the Mantus M-2 55# storm anchor is for the worst of conditions.

Cuckoo was ordered from the factory by a couple with extensive sailing experience and outfitted for the ultimate in comfort and safety. The cabin has every available factory upgrade for luxurious living, including a large L-shaped settee, a four-leaf folding table, and a freshwater electric head. The Bluetooth MS-RA70 Fusion Radio streams your favorite playlists through 4 speakers located in the cabin and cockpit. Food storage and preparation is easily accomplished with the Isotherm refrigerator, large freezer, Force10 gimbaled propane range, and ample locker space in the galley. A 16,000 BTU air conditioner keeps the cabin comfortable. Custom cockpit cushions, Bimini, and dodger make for a comfortable cockpit. Diesel jerry cans with matching Sunbrella covers fasten to the rail to extend your motoring range.

The Axiom 12S Pro chart plotter at the helm station puts the entire suite of fully integrated Raymarine electronics at your fingertips. In addition to showing all typical navigation parameters on the large color display, the chart plotter allows radar, AIS, autopilot, and weather data to be overlaid, giving the captain a comprehensive view of all important parameters on a single screen. The Raymarine Quantum radar scanner displays weather, unlit marks, land masses, and other navigation hazards while working seamlessly with the Raymarine AIS700 Class B Transceiver to identify other boats and shipping traffic. The Raymarine SR200 Sirius satellite weather service receiver allows the chart plotter to display radar and storm cell information, lightning strike locations, wind speed/direction forecasts, wave height/period/direction forecasts, and over 140 channels of SiriusXM music and entertainment.

Create routes directly on the chart plotter, or download them from other route planning software you might use. Besides the chart plotter, the large NavPod at the helm also houses a dedicated Raymarine P70S autopilot control and Raymarine i70 Multifunction Display. Additional i70 Multifunction Displays are located near the port and starboard rails for ease of viewing data from any seating position.

Aftermarket safety equipment (sea anchor, drogue, throwable flotation devices, life raft, ditch bag, and damage control tools) ensures that Cuckoo is ready for any contingency. It enables the crew to self-rescue when help is not available. Pad eyes and jack lines keep the crew aboard when the weather is rough. The Iridium GO! satellite communications transceiver allows easy text and voice communication via your cell phone anywhere in the world, and the ACR EPIRB can likewise alert officials of distress from anywhere on the planet. The fixed and handheld VHF radios ensure easy communication with other boats and shore activities. An electric cabin top winch can assist in recovering crew overboard. A second windlass controller in the cockpit makes single-handed anchoring a breeze. The high-efficiency Spectra water maker was professionally installed to guarantee clean water wherever you go. The Highfield 310 Ultralight dinghy with a 15 HP engine hangs conveniently on Kato Marine Davits.

Two safe, reliable 210 Ah Lifeline AGM batteries serve as the house bank, while the dedicated Lifeline AGM start battery ensures you can always start the engine. The LED cabin, running, and anchor lights consume minimal power, with 240 watts of solar keeping the battery banks charged when away from shore power.

There are too many spares to list, but include engine, water maker, fuel, plumbing, and all the other bits that keep a boat going.

Cuckoo is ready for you to step aboard and sail away on your next adventure.
