Wooden Ships Comments on this Iain Oughtred Wee Seal II Sloop
Iain Oughtred Wee Seal II design. The hull was professionally built for the previous owner, who then fitted the hull out himself as a retirement project, launching her in 2012.
The Wee Seal II is one of Oughtred’s larger designs with a self draining cockpit and cabin with 2 berths and sitting headroom. These are deceptively capable little boats, easily trailed behind a moderate vehicle and fun to sail.
The standard design for the Wee Seal was altered by Oughtred to remove the centreboard and fit her with bilge keels. This was at the request of the commissioning owner who was sailing in a large but shallow harbour and wanted to dry out easily up creeks and rivers.
This boat had an external cosmetic refit through the winter of 2023/2024 with the hull stripped and re-painted completely, cockpit and coachroof re-painted and all brightwork finished with Deks Olje.
Comes with a new Tohatsu outboard motor and good quality double axle road trailer.
