DOUBLE THYME was a custom build to demonstrate the possibilities with composite wood/epoxy construction. Built using the highest quality hardwoods to finish the interior she is completely unique. Commissioned by J Thompson Co. Timber Merchants; the developers of the Speed Strip hull construction method DOUBLE THYME was to be the ultimate test bed and demonstration of this revolutionary new boat building method. Using wood with epoxy to create a composite timber hull and deck, structurally comparable to GRP and better suited to low volume construction. This method of construction is still used today by builders such as Fairlie and Spirit yachts with some notable yachts such as the legendary FLY built using the same system.
