Accommodations

OVERWIEW:

SWAZIK is fully equipped and customized for offshore racing and performance cruising and is a turn-key solution for anyone wanting to campaign or cruise in comfort.

Forward Cabin

The forward cabin has a double berth with large hatch in the overhead. There is a hanging locker and a small settee.

Head

The head is forward and to port. The head compartment while molded fiberglass shell for ease of cleaning on the lower portion, the upper portion is teak with a Corian counter tops. Hot and cold pressure water with a pull-out shower.

Main salon

The port and starboard settees fold up to form to single bunks and allow for access to stowage behind the settees. You can sleep 4 in the main salon and there are lee cloths for all the bunks. The main salon has a large teak table with two foldable leaves. The batteries are stowed in the base of the table and vented to the mast. Below each bunk are the water tanks and room for an extra fuel tank. Above each settee are shelves and locker with louvered doors.

Chart table

Aft of the salon to starboard is a proper forward-facing chart table. The chart table has enough surface area to layout a full-size chart. Out board of the chart table is the electrical panel. There is stowage under the chart table and a drawer stack inboard. Aft of the chart table is the wet hanging locker.

Galley

Opposite the chart table to starboard is the galley. The galley is “L” shaped aft of the salon. Corian counter tops with double stainless-steel sinks, near center line for easy draining. Outboard there is a new stainless-steel Force Ten stove with 3 burner and an oven. Pressure water, hot and cold with a separate sea water spigot via a foot pump. The refrigerator is front loading, and the freezer is top loading. There is garbage bin, and the sinks have Corian covers

Engine Room

The Companionway ladder hinge up to allow for great access to the engine space. The engine room has proper insulation and a ventilation system. There is also access to the engine room from each aft cabin.

Aft Cabins

There are two identical aft cabins to port and starboard. The bunks are double berths with stowage below. There is a hanging locker in each cabin.

Additional Interior Comments:

·All bunks have foam mattresses over Scandi-Flax batten

·Light weight overhead liner

·Nautor hand craft teak interior

Hull

Construction

Vinyl-ester laminate with carbon fiber reinforcements. The hull above the waterline is cored and below the waterline is single skin. The bulkheads are teak veneered sandwich construction. The hull sides are blue gel boat and then painted with Flag Blue Awlgrip in March of 2013. The bottom has epoxy primer and painted with Black Micron 66 in October 2021.

Keel

Built from antimony lead with upper flange recessed in hull. The fin keel is bolted on the boat with high tensile stainless bolts. The keel has 400 kg of removable ballast in the keel bulb. (Presently installed in keel bulb) Bottom and keel have been faired to Swan 45 class specifications.

Rudder and Steering

Nautor made rudder with carbon fiber rudder post. The steering wheel is 6 ft in diameter and recess in the floor. Self-aligning JP-3 rudder bearings (new replaced 2021) with lightweight emergency tiller. The wheel has leather covering. Simrad /AC45 removable autopilot system.

Deck

Advance pre-preg laminate and core cell foam. Glued teak decks with white gel coat cabin and cockpit. The deck layout is for inshore and offshore racing, day sailing and world cruising. All halyards and sheets are lead to the cockpit.

In 2018 a Nautor crew from Finland was flown into replace all the teak decking (See Photos). This makes SWAZIK sparkle and will provide the new ownership years of service and pride.

In 2013 a custom scoop extension, designed by Nelson Marek of San Diego, was beautifully integrated into the boat lines. This provides 2 feet of extra deck aft of the wheel. This was done not only to add comfort and space but also to enhance the performance both upwind and downwind which it clearly did, as SWAZIK was 1st in class and 2nd overall in the 2014 Pacific Cup. This modification addition did not incur any rating change or penalty. This extension was designed so that it could be removed to go back to class configuration if so needed.

Mast and Rigging

Hall Spar carbon fiber mast 20 degree aft swept spreaders that eliminate the need for running backstays. Navtec rod rigging with series 880 turnbuckles. The mast has a removable hydraulic mast jack system for tuning the mast.

SWAZIK has been modified to have mast head spinnakers as well as fractional spinnakers. The mast was modified as per Hall Spars to handle the load and stronger spinnaker pole track was installed. The boat has two spinnaker poles, one Swan 45 carbon fiber class pole and an IRC optimized carbon fiber spinnaker pole. Carbon fiber reaching strut with fitting on mast.

The main boom is carbon fiber with a Hall Spars “quick vang”. The mainsail track allows for a racing main with an internal bolt rope or cars for the cruising main. There is a removable lazy jack system that works in perfect combination with the full batten cruising main. The reefing is via two single line systems lead to cockpit. The boat can be reefed without leaving the cockpit.

There are two headstay systems. A rod racing headstay with a “Tuff Luff” or a Harken unit 2.5 furler. The furling line is lead to the cockpit.

The boat has two full set of running rigging for inshore and offshore racing as well as cruising. Full list of running rigging available on request.

Sails

SWAZIK has a complete racing and cruising sail inventory, too long a list to include here. She is configured for Asymmetric and Symmetric spinnakers with both a fixed, but removable, carbon fiber prod and standard carbon fiber pole. All current racing sails are North Sails. The cruising North 3Di main and headsail are the most recent additions as the owner likes to shorthand sail with these and a furling Code 0. A complete list of the sails, with comments and condition is available upon request.
