Boat Overview

The Scanmar 35 is an attractive yacht from Scanmar. This Swedish-made yacht is very well-maintained and clean. It has had only three owners. The yacht has sailed in European waters and to the Caribbean with the present owner. She benefits from heating, hot water, navigation equipment, Hydrovane steering, and a wind generator.

Construction and Mechanical

Construction

GRP hull and Sandwich decking with fin keel and counter balanced skeg hung rudder. Deep self-draining centre cockpit, with good visibility from the helm wheel steering position. Seating for full crew. Large cockpit locker. Seating teak overlays and teak grating in the sole. In port, a cockpit table and cushions can be fitted for outdoor dining. Bimini sunshade. Deck moulding incorporates a non-slip finish on horizontal surfaces and coach rooftops. Excellent fold down ladder for boarding and man overboard recovery.

Mechanical

• Engine: Volvo Penta MD 20-30 diesel engine with Saildrive and folding propeller.
• New in 2002 with replacement sail-drive. 2002 seal will need replaced.
• Low engine hours.
• Aft of the engine, there is a service compartment with fuel tank, batteries, and holding tank.
• Electric: 12 volts 4x 120amp batteries in two banks.
• 220volt 13amp sockets for use with shore power.
• Sterling Pro-Charge Ultra volt shore power battery charger.
• Wind generator: Aerogen 6
• Heating: Eberspächer diesel and 220 volt electric bar heaters.

Water System

12 volt pressurized hot and cold water to heads and galley. Galley sink heads sink with mixer taps and main heads shower.

Mast and Rigging

• Mast: Isomat, alloy spars, 7/8th single spreader, keel stepped mast.
• Standing Rigging replaced 2001.
• Emergency Forestay with check-stays.
• All halyards and reefing lines lead aft to cockpit.
• Furlex Genoa furling.
• Fully batten main sail, 3 reef slab reef system, with all lines led aft to clutches on cabin top with cockpit access.
• Spinnaker pole and Back stay adjuster.
• Winches: 2 x Andersen 46 two speed genoa winches, 2x Anderson winches, 2 X Lewmar cabin top halyard/reefing winches.

Sails

• Main: Saturn sails fully battened, 3 slab reefs, new sail cover.
• Genoa: Saturn sails 120% Roller reefing Genoa, Furlex.
• Storm sails: Storm jib and storm trysail as new.

Accommodation

The bright main saloon is finished in satin varnished solid mahogany panel, which is in excellent condition. The Scanmar 35 has a very high headroom, with 198 cm in the main saloon. Large table provides seating for 6/7 persons. Teak/holly cabin sole. The dinette can be converted into a large double berth while to starboard there is a single settee berth. Lee cloths have been fitted for ocean passages.

Galley to port side is equipped with a gimbaled Optimus two burner and oven gimballed cooker, twin sinks, pressurized hot and cold water with mixer tap, water-cooled fridge, and lots of storage space. Navigation station to starboard with chart table and instruments. Aft of the chart table is the heads with WC, shower, wash basin, and drying chamber for wet gear. Fore cabin with double berth, hanging locker, and other storage cupboards. Aft cabin with three berths. The double berth has been extended to provide a full double. Large storage area under berths and hanging locker and stowage lockers and fan. Blaupunkt music system. Lewmar ocean hatches are fitted with insect screens.

Owner's Comment

We have vast amounts of spares for just about everything, as we were prepared for being quite self-sufficient for a year. We'll aim to document that. We also have charts and pilots for everywhere we went along the Atlantic coast of Europe, Canaries, and the Caribbean which we could sell separately (Not updated/corrected since 2002). I expect a lot of this is electronic now.
