DESCRIPTION

Twin-keeled Westerly Konsort (1986) Competitively priced at £18,450

Built in 1986 with yard No. D487/Sail No. KT631, ‘Peekay’ is a well-maintained example of a mid-aged, Mk II Konsort. She has been lightly used and is currently owned by only the second owner since new. The boat has been kept in good condition by capable owners and is fully Part 1 registered.

‘Peekay’s bilge areas are dry, the teak veneers are in good condition, and she has been professionally re-lined during previous ownership. The canvas work, including the sprayhood and ‘Stack Pack’-style sail cover, along with the primary sails, have just been returned from a local sailmaker after being checked and cleaned. The standing rigging has just been replaced (Nov 2024). She is equipped with self-tailing sheet winches, a pressurized hot & cold water system, a 240V AC shore support system, and an optional additional hatch over the main saloon.

If you enjoy sailing, want the benefits of spacious accommodation, and appreciate the build quality and warmth of a honey-colored teak wood finish of a prime Westerly-built yacht – all under 30’, then this is a boat to view.

Accommodation

Six berths in two cabins, featuring Westerly ‘Green Sea’ velvet upholstery and professionally replaced head-linings (although there are currently a few individual areas that could use attention to prevent further detachment). The main saloon’s cushion covers have begun to fail due to age, and a new owner will want to address this point promptly.

For’cabin: Two generous berths (larger than in the Westerly 33!) can form a double with an in-filling cushion. A stainless steel water tank is fitted beneath the forward end of the berths, and the under-berth lockers beneath the head ends offer good volume. Deep fiddled shelves are fitted to either hull-side. Light and ventilation are provided by an overhead hatch and two opening portlights for cross-ventilation. 240V AC, 13 Amp socket.

Heads Compartment: Equipped with a Lavac marine-flushing toilet, pull-out handbasin, and pressurized hot and cold water supply, with hand-pumped cold water back-up. Under-deck closed locker for bulk stowage. A large hanging locker on the opposite side is fitted with a divider for separating ‘wets’ from dry. This area provides practical bulk storage plus some hanging for clothing and/or jackets.

Saloon: Parallel settee berths to port and starboard; the port side’s settee extends to provide a practical double berth between the hull side and the center-line mounted table. A generous single quarter berth is located to the port side abaft the chart table. 240V AC 13A outlet socket at the chart table.

Chart Table: Chart stowage within a forward-facing independent chart table, with a deep-fiddled open shelf alongside the navigator's left shoulder for almanacs and tidal streams atlases. The chart table’s lid has been re-oriented, with hinges fitted on the outboard edge for ease of access, and a 12V DC electrical outlet has been provided for phone or GPS charging.

Galley: L-shaped, located to starboard of the companionway. Fitted with a stainless sink, electrically pressurized hot and cold water supply, with standard foot-pumped cold water back-up. The original Flavell Vanessa cooker is still fitted, featuring two hob burners, a grill, and an oven. Two storage drawers, a pans locker, dedicated crockery storage, and a large under-deck storage locker are included.

Mechanical and Electrical Systems

Engine: Fitted with an indirectly cooled Volvo Penta 2002 marine diesel, rated at approx. 18 BHP, driving a fixed two-bladed propeller. A Spurs rope cutter is fitted ahead of the propeller, and its associated anode has been replaced in readiness for the 2025 season.

The Volvo Penta lip seal to the inboard end of the sterntube was replaced in 2022.

Electrical: The electrical systems have been updated with an additional circuit breaker panel supplementing the original panel, featuring two heavy-duty batteries (1 x Numax 110 A/hr and 1 x Delco Voyager 120A/hr) switched through a rotary selector switch. Charging is provided by an engine-mounted alternator with a 20A battery charger for use when connected to a shore supply.

Sails and Spars

A bermudan masthead sloop on a Seldѐn mast (badged as a ‘Kemp Mast’), with a replacement ‘Furlex’ reefing system by Seldѐn on the for’stay. The standing rigging has just been renewed in November 2024.

Halyards and reefing lines are led to banks of stoppers and two single-speed winches mounted at the aft end of the coach roof.

Sails:

The main working sails are original but are removed, checked, and valeted prior to each winter.

The mainsail stows within a ‘Packaway’ sail bag, supported by lazy jacks.

Additional sails include:

  • Cruising Chute.
  • Storm Jib.

  • Throwing line in a mesh bag.
  • Danbuoy (new 2024), attached to a horseshoe lifebuoy with floating light.
  • 2nd lifebuoy and holder.

General note on safety equipment: Any safety equipment such as liferafts, EPIRBs, fire extinguishers, and flares are usually personal to the current owner(s) and if being left on-board as part of the sale of a used vessel may require routine servicing, replacement, or changing to meet a new owner's specific needs.
